University demands a different kind of learning. Success depends less on memorising and more on managing your own time, reading critically, and writing clearly.
Start by building independent study habits before you arrive. Practise summarising what you read, taking structured notes, and meeting self-set deadlines. Get comfortable with core reference materials — a good dictionary and the foundational textbooks for your field are investments that pay off all year.
Finally, ask for help early. The strongest students aren't those who never struggle, but those who seek out lecturers, libraries, and the right resources before small gaps become large ones.
“The best stories sneak up on you and rearrange the furniture of your mind.”
